Lasting Partnerships

Working in partnership with other organisations and rotary clubs is key to successful projects

in 2021 the Rotary club of Cannock in partnership with the Beaconside Church at Stafford put together a project to provide a toilet and wash facilities in a remote village in Nepal. The village GIMDI some 25 km from Kathmandu had only one useable toilet for 200 people. The project aimed at providing water and sanitation was to build a toilet block with 10 toilets. This changed part way through the project to provide two blocks of four toilets with additional wash facilities and clean water standpipes located in separate part of the village. Our partners in the project on the ground in Nepal were the Rotary club of Mahadbouddha and our contact on the ground was Rotarian Narawaj Sanjel who oversaw the project through to completion working in close partnership with Chris Young and Steve Cranston.

At our meeting on 23rd October we were delighted to finally meet Narawaj and thank him for his work. Narawaj is on a visit to the uk and is being hosted by Steve Cranston of the Beaconside church

Narawaj thanked the Cannock club for their support and told our members how the project had transformed lives for the residents of the village. We hope to conduct further projects in Nepal and work with our partners to improve the lives of the people in remote areas.
